“মানুষ মানুষের জন্য, জীবন জীবনের জন্য”- তাই যদি হবে তবে মানুষ দ্বারা কেন মানুষের এত ক্ষতি হয়, জীবন কেন হয় বিপন্ন!বলছি মানুষের দ্বারা উৎপন্ন বিষাক্ত বর্জ্যের কথা, যা দ্বারা সবচেয়ে বেশি ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয় এই মানুষ-ই। বুড়িগঙ্গা তীরের ট্যানারি শিল্পের কথা তো আমরা সকলেই শুনেছি। যার ফলশ্রুতিতে আমাদের প্রাপ্তি এই মৃত বুড়িগঙ্গা। নোংরা, গন্ধযুক্ত পানিতে মিশে আছে আমাদের অবহেলার চিহ্ন। বিষাক্ত বর্জ্যের কারণে সেই সাথে ধ্বংস হচ্ছে জীববৈচিত্র্য ও পরিবেশ। প্রায়ই হচ্ছে এসিড বৃষ্টি, ক্ষয়ে যাচ্ছে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভাষ্কর্য ও স্থাপনা। জলবায়ুর পরিবর্তন হচ্ছে অনিয়ন্ত্রিতভাবে।এসব বিষাক্ত বর্জ্যের যথাযথ ব্যবস্থাপনা করতে হবে। পরিবেশে ছাড়ার পূর্বে বিষাক্ততার মাত্রা কমিয়ে আনতে হবে। বিষাক্ত বর্জ্য নিরাময়ের চারটি প্রধান পদ্ধতির মধ্যে রয়েছে “ট্রিটমেন্ট”, “সার্ফেস স্টোরেজ”, “ল্যান্ডফিল স্টোরেজ” এবং “ডিপ ওয়েল ইনজেকশন”। সরকারি নীতিমালা মেনে শিল্পকারখানা গড়ে তুলতে হবে। সর্বোপরি পরিবেশ ও নিজেদের অস্তিত্ব রক্ষায় সকলকে এগিয়ে আসতে হবে।

We have all heard about the tannery industry on the banks of the Buriganga. The result of which is this dead Buriganga. Unhygienic, foul-smelling water speaks for our negligence. At the same time, biodiversity and the environment are being destroyed. Acid rain, occurring often, erodes important sculptures and installations. Climate change is uncontrollable. These toxic wastes need to be properly managed. Toxicity levels must be reduced before they are released into the environment. The four main methods for treating hazardous waste include “treatment”, “surface storage”, “landfill storage”, and “deep-well injection”. Industries have to be built in compliance with government policies. Above all, everyone must come forward to protect the environment and their existence as well.
